Cricket will meet Carnival in Antigua this coming Monday and Tuesday as the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons formed a partnership with Insane Carnival for what promises to be the hottest collaboration on the streets.
The two local entities agreed the initiative which will see cricket being featured in the Inane Carnival events with the revelers on the road for the biggest public event in the Antigua Carnival. The annual event has global appeal and attracts thousands of party-goers and spectators as it moves through the streets of the island’s capital for the J’Ouvert and costume parade.
Then, when the Caribbean Premier League comes to Antigua later this month, Insane Carnival will be up front and centre with fan-friendly, in-stadium activations at the five matches which will be hosted at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium from August 29 to September 5.
Jeff Miller, CEO and General Manager of the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons said: “We are delighted to form this new and exciting partnership with Insane Carnival, and we know it will be great for our fans and the revelers who will be partying on the road. Our partners at Insane are known for their vibes and eye-popping costumes … they are the excitement machine everywhere they play mass. We will have giveaway thousands of Falcons gifts, keepsakes, souvenirs, and other items for everyone.”
Miller added: “This is the kind of hype and fun that Falcons fans will enjoy. We want to have that same kind of energy when we host our home matches in the upcoming CPL. This will be our first season playing at home in front our ‘army’ of supporters and Insane Carnival will have their huge presence in the stands. Our fans will love this, and it will enhance the ‘Biggest Party in Sport’.”
According to Capt. Lenroy Browne, CEO of the Insane Group, including Insane Boot Camp, Insane Army, and Insane Carnival the reigning Band of the Year, "...We are happy about this new and exciting partnership with the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.
“We hope to elevate the prospects of Antigua and Barbuda as the number one venue in the CPL cricket tournament working in tandem with the Falcons. Our track record of success in the local cultural entertainment space in Antigua and Barbuda makes this synergy with the Falcons the best union to re-establish Antigua and Barbuda as the home of cricket in the region. The Insane Army now follows the Falcon train into the CPL, and we look forward to a new level of success in this endeavour. We thank all of the diligent persons on both the Insane and Falcon teams who helped to make this invaluable partnership a reality. We look forward to the Falcons on the Insane trail this Carnival Monday and Tuesday on the road.”
